MANHATTAN — A 16-year-old boy has been charged with murder over the daylight shooting of a Harlem man last week, police said.

Mark Acevedo was taken into custody Friday, two days after he allegedly shot Dereck Nelson, 34, at about 3 p.m. in front of an apartment building on East 132nd Street. The attack took place near the Lincoln Houses, where Nelson lived.

Nelson, known by the nickname "Trek," was hit in the chest and was pronounced dead at Harlem Hospital.

After his arrest, Acevedo was jailed on Rikers Island. He has yet to appear in court for an arraignment.
