MANHATTAN — A man was arrested after allegedly stabbing four people in Chelsea Thursday evening, the NYPD said.

Police said a man walked into the Solstice Sunglasses Boutique on Ninth Avenue near W. 15th Street around 6 p.m. and stabbed an employee with a 4-inch knife. Three other people were also stabbed as they tried to take down the attacker, police told the New York Post.

"The guy was crazy. He looked like he had rabies or something," witness James Ortiz told the paper.

Rushane Brown, 22, of Queens, was arrested by police and taken to Bellvue Hospital, the Post reported.

"He came in mumbling and tried stabbing everyone in the store," employee Tyler Hills, 21, told the paper. "This wasn't a robbery. He wanted to kill people."

Brown fled outside the store and was apprehended by six bystanders, but not before injuring three of them.

"I grabbed a chair and slammed him with it," Victor Andujar told the Post. "While we were struggling, he slashed one person in the face and stabbed another in the shoulder and another in the stomach."
