Just as they have done for the past 31 years, museums on Fifth Avenue will stop traffic tonight and open their doors for free to the public, turning Museum Mile into New York's biggest block party.

The Guggenheim, the Met and El Museo Del Barrio are just some of the museum participating in the event, which will shut down traffic on Fifth Avenue, between 82nd and 105th streets.

Live music and entertainment will fill the night and accompany visitors as they stroll between the museums.

El Museo del Barrio is celebrating 40 years with a party on its steps starting at 5:45 p.m.

Street muralist De La Vega will be there, helping the public create chalk drawings on Fifth Avenue.

When: 5:45 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Kids of all ages and sizes get in on the fun.
