MANHATTAN – Police are on the hunt for a man accused of sexually assaulting a woman in an Upper West Side stairwell.
On Sunday, May 16, a 25-year-old woman was walking up a flight of stairs inside a building on West 67th Street around 3:20 a.m. when she felt a push from behind, police said.
The suspect then sexually assaulted her, police said. She was eventually able to fight him off, 1010 WINS reported.
Police have released two photos and surveillance video of a man wanted in connection with the crime. He was dressed in a green t-shirt, dark pants, and a tan baseball cap.
In the grainy video, the man is pictured walking down a dark hallway, partially entering an open door, and then turning back. He appears to be holding a rolled-up piece of paper in his left hand.
He is described as in his 20's and 5'9", about 200-225 lbs, with short dark hair and a heavy build.
Anyone with information is being asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
