WASHINGTON HEIGHTS - An allegedly drunk hit-and-run driver killed a pedestrian after plowing into him on a Washington Heights street Saturday.
The driver took off after his White Toyota Scion hit the victim at about 5 a.m. at 173rd Street and Broadway, police said.
But he was stopped just 13 blocks away after shocked witnesses described his car to police.
Argelis Alcantara, 28, of West 163rd Street, was arrested and charged with DWI, vehicular manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident, police said.
The victim, described as Hispanic and in his 20s or 30s, has not been identified by police.
