MIDTOWN WEST — A Fifth Avenue bank at 31st Street was robbed Wednesday afternoon by a man who fled after ordering a teller to fill his knapsack with cash.

It was not immediately known how much money the robber took from the Valley National Bank.

The man, who was photographed by security cameras, was described by police as white, bald, about 35 years old, six feet tall and weighing approximately 180 pounds. He was wearing sunglasses, a gray sweatshirt, jeans and sneakers.
