MANHATTAN — A $4 million plan to build a restroom and office space for the Parks Department within Washington Square Park was approved Tuesday by the Landmarks Preservation Commission.
The glass and granite building would replace three older structures and a rundown bathroom, 1010 WINS reported.
Construction is scheduled to begin next year, and is expected to take about a year to complete, the station said.
The project is the final phase of a park overhaul that's added new landscaping and plantings, dog runs, petanque courts and that realigned the park's massive fountain with its iconic arch.
