CHELSEA — It's a different way of looking at New York City.

A new public art installation on the High Line uses cut-outs in a white screen to give unusual views of neighboring street scenes.

"Viewing Station," by famed British artist Richard Galpin, opened Friday on the park between 17th and 18th Streets.

"Richard Galpin's piece uses a relatively low-tech approach to achieve a remarkable transformation," said Lauren Ross, the curator of arts programs for Friends of the High Line.

"Richard's piece presents visitors with an unexpected and transformed experience."

The exhibition, which will be on display until next spring, was unveiled to mark the launch of the first ever New York Gallery Week, which runs at 50 galleries until Monday.
