FINANCIAL DISTRICT — The body of a 48-year-old man was dragged from the East River Thursday morning, police said.

The man — who was only identified by his age and as Hispanic pending family notification — was discovered by a worker with Liberty Helicopter Tours, who said he saw the body floating south of Pier 11 near Wall Street about 9 a.m.

A Harbor Police boat then dragged the body to the north side of Pier 11, where police pulled it from the water, the worker said.

By 10:30 a.m., the body lay on the dock at Pier 11's Slip E, wrapped in a white sheet, and an ambulance waited on South Street.

The pier stayed open throughout the incident, with ferries pulling in and discharging commuters.
