New York City Marathon Hopefuls — All 120,000 of Them — Await Wednesday's Live Lottery

MANHATTAN —Runners hoping for the chance to compete in the ING New York City Marathon can join with fellow pavement pounders Wednesday during a live lottery drawing to see who will be selected to participate in the race.

The New York Road Runners will stream the drawing online at noon Wednesday, as well as host a handful of parties across Manhattan for would-be racers.

NYRR received more than 120,000 applications for the marathon this year but will only accept less than half of the applicants, a spokesperson said.

Runners can also attend a free clinic to get tips from marathoners at Robert Wagner Middle School, 220 E. 76th St., at 6:30 p.m.

The parties will take place at the following locations, with refreshments compliments of the Road Runners:

McGee’s
240 W. 55th St. (between Broadway and Eighth Avenue)
5:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Tonic
727 Seventh Ave. (between W. 48th & 49th streets)
5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

The Parlour
250 W. 86th St. (between Broadway and West End Avenue)
5:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Swig
1629 Second Ave. (between E. 84th and 85th streets)
5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

Blue Moon
1444 First Ave. (at E. 75th Street)
6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Terrace in the Sky
400 W. 119th St. (at Columbus Avenue)
5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
