MANHATTAN — Firefighters extinguished a small blaze that broke out at a public housing complex on the Upper West Side Friday morning, fire officials said.

The one-alarm fire started just after 11 a.m. at the Amsterdam Houses, a high-rise complex located at 216 W. 62nd St., according to the FDNY.

The blaze began in a resident’s kitchen, said officials at the scene.

Tenants were evacuated and no one was injured, fire officials confirmed. The FDNY is investigating the cause of the blaze.

Margarita Curet, president of the Amsterdam Houses tenants association, said the fire caused minor damage at the complex, including broken windows and flooding in the basement and in the tenants’ community room.
