MANHATTAN — Yankees star Alex Rodriguez said he will cooperate in the federal investigation of a doctor linked to human growth hormones, the New York Times reported.
Rodriguez refused to comment on whether he had been treated by Canadian doctor Anthony Galea, who was charged with conspiring to smuggle human growth hormone into the United States. Galea has not been charged in the US.
“I can’t really get into that. You’ll know within time all at the same time," Rodriguez told the Times.
The Yankees slugger was forced to come clean a year ago about his steroid use when Sports Illustrated broke a story tying him to performance enhancing drugs on their Web site.
Rodriguez said the investigation would not become a distraction him going into the 2010 season.
“This is about someone else, this is about someone else. Like I said, I’m going to cooperate the best I can and focus on baseball.”
