MANHATTAN — Police found a bulletproof vest and a safe with stolen jewelry in the apartment of a man being questioned in connection with the fatal robbery of a Madison Avenue jewelry store, sources told the New York Post.

The suspect has yet to be charged but was questioned by police for nearly 24 hours at the 19th Precinct House, the Post reported.

Henry Menahem, 71, was murdered during the brazen noontime heist Jan. 28, after refusing to cooperate with a robber.

Sources told the Daily News that the man questioned was not believed to be the triggerman.

Police have recovered some of the valuables stolen in the Upper East Side heist, which helped lead them to the man, according to reports.

The News said that at least one piece of jewelry from the heist was found in the man's safe.

The NYPD would not comment on the report.
