MANHATTAN — Donald Trump and rent control are not two terms New Yorkers usually associate, but if the real estate-mogul-turned-TV-star has his way, he might just be the new owner of middle class bastions of affordable housing Stuyvesant Town and Peter Cooper Village, the New York Post reported.

Following Monday's news that Tishman Speyer and BlackRock were relinquishing ownership of the properties to creditors, several realty interests have expressed their interest in the 120 buildings and 11,000 units that make up the developments.

"People have asked us if we would get involved in running it or buying it," Trump said in a phone interview with the Post. "We are looking at it right now very seriously."
