MUNICIPAL DISTRICT — Chairman Jay Walder's testimony at a state assembly hearing about impending subway cuts was interrupted Thursday when the building was briefly evacuated

As Walder answered a question about cost sharing with Connecticut on Metro-North's New Haven line at 250 Broadway, which houses city and state government agencies, an alarm went off and the building evacuated.

Shortly after 12:30 p.m., Walder returned and the meeting resumed.

The FDNY said the scare was caused by a smoking electrical motor, and that the situation was under control within minutes.
