MANHATTAN — A violent knife-wielding suspect wanted in connection to a string of home invasions in Greenwich Village and the Upper West Side has struck again.
Posing as a deliveryman, the suspect punched a 79-year-old woman in the face as he pushed his way into her W. 12th Street apartment on Monday, police said. He then tied her up before stealing unidentified items from her home.
The victim suffered a cut on her lip in the attack.
The one-man crime wave began Oct. 8 in the Village when the suspect, described as a Hispanic male in his 40s, jumped a 53-year-old woman from behind as she returned from taking out the garbage, police said.
He tied her up with an electrical cord and made off with cash and electronics, according to police.
The second burglary took place Oct. 16 on Bank Street when the suspect asked an 84-year-old woman for a glass of water and stole her cell phone while she turned to grab a glass, police said.
On Oct. 25, two Upper West Side women walked into their home to find the man, who was armed with a knife, mid-heist. The bandit tied them up fled with a laptop, cell phone, ring and cash, police said.
Then, posing as a UPS deliveryman on Oct. 29, he flashed a weapon to a nanny caring for a 3-year-old child before forcing his way into a Greenwich Village apartment, the New York Post reported.
The NYPD asks anyone with information on the spree to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or log on to www.nypdcrimestoppers.com
