Six people were injured when two taxis crashed into one another and then into a sidewalk scaffolding in the East Village Sunday night.

Two people were seriously injured near the intersection of Broadway and East 8th Street around 9 p.m. Sunday, according to 1010WINS.

Witnesses said the cabs seemed to be racing one another and, as one tried to pass, the two cars careened up onto the sidewalk causing a scaffolding to collapse, the radio station reported.

"The backside of one cab hit the pole," witness Mark Seran, 47, told the New York Post. "Then they spun and the scaffolding collapsed."

The six victims, all of whom were passengers in the taxis, were taken to St. Vincent's Hospital to be treated.
