MANHATTAN — An off-duty NYPD officer was charged after he allegedly pulled his gun and confronted noisy New York Rangers fans as he road the Long Island Rail Road Sunday, according to published reports.

MTA police said officer David Hendrick, 38, was riding a LIRR train from Penn Station bound for Ronkonkoma around 9:20 p.m. when he spotted "a group of unruly passengers following a Ranger game," the Daily News reported.

Hendrick allegedly confronted two fans who were cursing and drinking and pulled out his gun, News 12 Long Island reported. He was pulled off the train by MTA police at the Mineola station stop.

Hendrick pleaded not guilty Monday in Nassau District Court in Hempstead to weapons possession and menacing charges.

He was suspended without pay after the Sunday night incident.
