Back Of The Yards, Brighton Park Outdoor Drinks, Happy Hours and Entertainment!

Outdoor bars in Back of the Yards and Brighton Park are a great way to enjoy the warm weather. But who has the best happy hour? The best drinks? The best views? We're here to help you figure that out. The area is trendy and historic (Back of the Yards was the setting of Upton Sinclair’s "The Jungle"). Inexpensive and diverse living is drawing more Chicagoans here, especially in Brighton Park, ranked as the city’s third hottest neighborhood.

Mario and Sandra’s

Free pool, daily drink specials and a great jukebox make this place a neighborhood gathering spot. There’s a small list of imported and craft beers, but try the Blue Mother####er tropical cocktail instead. The pool league has a stack of trophies along the wall to peruse while you chill with your drink in hand.

Coco Club

Coco Club is a speakeasy and nightclub with a touch of classiness — crystal chandeliers, dueling pianos, lounge singers, comedians, craft drinks and live music. None of the cocktails are pre-mixed here; everything is made from scratch daily with fresh ingredients. Toast the neighborhood with the South Side cocktail, a minty, lemony gin drink.

Linda’s Lounge

Linda’s may be a bit of a dive, but it’s one of the best places for live blues on the South Side. Grab a seat for the show twice a month, on the first and third Monday. Top-shelf drinks are about $6 and the bartenders provide generous pours.

Stanley’s

This historic bar opened in 1924 to provide food and drinks to hardworking folks at the Stock Yards. It still offers a hot-plate special every day with old-fashioned comfort food. Come for happy hour, which features snack and drink specials. The beer lineup isn’t varied, but there’s a selection of old Chicago standards.
