The shooting happened Saturday night in the 5600 block of South Artesian Avenue.
An officer fatally shot a man who fired at police in Belmont Cragin late Sunday morning, police said.
A police union spokesman said the man tried to run from police before firing shots at an officer.
Authorities said the man, 62, lunged at firefighters, paramedics and police officers with a knife.
Officials identified the man as 37-year-old Gary Smith. He was taken to Loyola, where he died Sunday.
The shooting happened about 6:02 p.m. in the 2500 block of West 50th Street, police said.
The officer, off-duty at the time, shot one of the suspected burglars.
Both men appear to be among the three people who were wounded when police opened fire Jan. 1.
The off-duty cop fired at a suspect after the man pointed a weapon at the officer, police said.
