Ongoing work on the Jane Byrne Interchange will shut the expressway overnight this weekend.
Drivers will have to endure some overnight closures next week as crews wrap up the two-year project.
There's just a little more construction to finish before the ramps will be usable.
The ramps will close between midnight and 10 a.m. Sunday so beams can be installed, officials said.
You might want to avoid driving Downtown for — well, for a while.
Officials said this will be the last weekend of widespread closures for the massive project.
Drivers would do well to avoid the Jane Byrne Interchange at all costs this weekend.
The construction will delay traffic and detour drivers on weekends in August, September and October.
The delays will last through next Aug. 5.
Work is expected to begin at 11 p.m. Wednesday and continue through Friday morning.
The project is expected to be completed by the Summer of 2016, IDOT said.
Construction will begin on March 7.
