The burglaries occurred Feb. 26 through Monday during daytime and early evening hours.

The event is designed to break down barriers between officers and citizens, organizers said.

Aldermen Arena, Napolitano, Sposato and Villegas met with Supt. Eddie Johnson to demand more officers.

Police will saturate the area to find drivers who are drunk, speeding or not wearing their seat belts.

The family-friendly event at Norwood Park, 5801 N. Natoma Ave., takes place from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Supt.  Eddie Johnson promised in June to assign more officers to the Jefferson Park Police District.

Police Supt. Johnson said he wasn't sure how many more officers were needed on the Far Northwest Side.

Roger Bay will be replaced by Capt. Bill Looney, who had been assigned to the Town Hall Police District.

The parts fetch as much as $1,000 for the thieves — but can cost car owners up to $2,000 to repair.

Cmdr. James O'Donnell has led the Jefferson Park Police District since March 2012.
