Wicker Park’s nonprofit creative writing and tutoring center 826CHI is producing “Tale-Gate" from noon to 6 p.m. on Sept. 28 (Saturday) inside Dean Park at 1344 N. Dean St.

The festival will be hosted by Pulitzer Prize finalist and Latino Literature Hall of Famer Luis Alberto Urrea, comedian Adam Burke, and Essay Fiesta producers Willy Nast and Karen Shimmin.

Activities include an array of food trucks (La Adelita, La Colombe, Windy City Patty Wagon and Sweet Ride) as well as 826 student readings, writing workshops, demos and a musical performance by Chicago’s Talking Heads cover band, This Must Be The Band.

Tickets will be sold at the door are $5 for children ages 8 and over, and $10 for adults.

All proceeds will support 826CHI's free programming for Chicago youth including field trips, after-school tutoring, in-school support, and writing workshops for CPS students ages 6-18.
