It comes as no surprise that the organization encouraging Chicagoans to grow their own food is also hosting a pop-up holiday market in support of handmade goods by local artists and crafters.

Shop for everything from candles to knitwear, baked goods to jewelry — and, of course, garden ornaments — at Peterson Garden Project's Holiday Market Dec. 6-14 at 4642 N. Francisco Ave.

Feel even better about your purchases knowing that 15 percent of the proceeds will be donated to the project.

The market's grand opening from 6-8 p.m. Friday will feature carolers, hot apple cider and more.

The market's hours are: 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Dec. 7, 8 and 14, and 4-8 p.m. Dec. 9-13.
