Peterson Garden Project, which operates a number of community gardens on Chicago's North Side, is opening a new pop-up garden in 2014 on the campus of Northeastern Illinois University.

Learn more about the opportunity and how to get involved at an info session set for 7 p.m. Feb. 13 at Northside College Prep High School, 5501 N. Kedzie Ave.

Eighty gardening beds, situated on top of unused tennis courts, will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Membership in the garden project, which includes a 4-foot-by-8-foot garden bed with soil, is $75 per year.

Volunteer opportunities will also be discussed.
