On Saturday, the Illinois Unites for Marriage campaign is organizing a statewide "day of action," bringing together supporters of same-sex marriage to knock on doors in various communities and ask other supporters to call their legislators and voice their support.

In Chicago, people down with the cause can meet in Andersonville at Starbucks, 5300 N. Clark St., or Downtown at 180 N. Michigan Ave., Suite 2300.

The Illinois General Assembly's fall veto session starts Oct. 22 and ends Nov. 7, and supporters of marriage equality in Illinois see the legislative session as their last chance in 2013 to get a same-sex marriage bill passed in the state.
