Shambhala Chicago's new meditation center at 37 N. Carpenter St., formerly the Oprah Winfrey store, opens to the public Wednesday evening.

Grand opening events begin at 5:30 p.m. with a guided meditation, followed by an opening reception at 6 p.m.

Representatives from the Illinois Council on Handgun Violence and Louder than a Bomb will introduce youth artists and poets who will present and discuss their work. Admission is free.
