Amundsen High School, 5110 N. Damen Ave., sure knows how to throw an open house that's really a Halloween party in disguise.

Sure there will be tours of the school and presentations on academics, sports and extracurricular activities. But there's also trick-or-treating for youngsters up to fifth grade, and a haunted locker room for sixth graders and above (suggested donation of $3).

The school has also organized arts and crafts, sports and carnival games, a cheerleading clinic for elementary students and a costume parade for the youngest guests.

Tours, presentations and the cheer clinic start at 5 p.m. Trick-or-treating and the haunted locker room take place at 6 p.m. Adults can attend a school update/Q&A session at 6 p.m. while the children are otherwise occupied. The event wraps up at 7 p.m.
