CHICAGO — Kayleigh "Kay" Green returned to her family Wednesday, closing the book on a nearly month-long public search that launched after she went missing on Oct. 2.
"I want to say thank you, to every one of you," Kayleigh's father David Green wrote in the "Help Find Kay Green" Facebook group Wednesday afternoon. "With your help and sharing and constant support, she has been found."
Another post in the group read that the teen is "in a safe place," adding that "no further details will be given publicly."
Police confirmed Wednesday afternoon that Kayleigh had been found.
The teen, a student at Taft High School, had last been seen in the 4900 block of West Grace Street. She had sent a message to her friend saying she was going to New York, according to her mother, Anna Green.
