CHICAGO — Two carjackers stole a minivan left running with a 2-year-old child inside in Galewood Monday evening, police said.
At 6:18 p.m., a woman, of unknown age, left her 1999 white Pontiac minivan unattended in the 6500 block of West North Avenue with her child inside, police said. Two people stole the van and fled in an unknown direction.
The child, whose gender is unknown, was later found dropped off somewhere in Oak Park with no injuries. The child was then reunited with family.
After dropping off the child, the carjackers drove off and were taken into custody after crashing the car on Central Avenue and Jackson Boulevard.
Charges are pending, police said.
