South Deering Alley Shooting Kills 40-Year-Old Man, Police Say

CHICAGO — A 40-year-old man was killed after being shot multiple times in a South Deering alley early Thursday morning, police said.

At 2:10 a.m. Thursday, the victim was in an alley in the 9600 block of South Euclid Avenue when someone approached him and shot him three times in his torso, once in his buttocks and once in his head, police said. 

The victim was identified as Darnell Mitchell, who lived on the same block as the incident, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

The incident may have been gang-related, according to a police source. No one is in custody.
