Chicago Shootings Kill 1, Wound 4 Others Since Tuesday Morning

CHICAGO — Five people were shot, one fatally, in shootings across the city since Tuesday morning, police said.

At 8 p.m. Tuesday in West Englewood, an alleged robber was killed and his would-be victim was wounded in a gun battle, according to police. 

In nonfatal shootings:

At 7:45 p.m. Tuesday in Humboldt Park, a 26-year-old man was shot while walking in the 700 block of North Lawndale Avenue, police said. Someone shot at him from a car. 

The man was taken to Stroger Hospital after being shot in his back and left arm. He is in good condition.

• At 3:17 p.m. Tuesday in North Lawndale, a 43-year-old man was wounded in the 1600 block of South Harding Avenue, police said. He was shot by a woman trying to rob him.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition after he was shot in his upper left back and ribs.

• At 12:16 p.m. Tuesday in Austin, a 19-year-old man was shot while he was walking in the 700 block of North Lamon Avenue, police said. 

He was taken to Mount Sinai in serious condition after he was shot in his back.

The shooter fled in a silver sedan in an unknown direction.

No one is in custody in the shootings.
