FULLER PARK — A city water truck was stolen Wednesday morning in Fuller Park, but the truck's GPS tracker quickly led officers to the stolen truck, police said.

A Water Department worker had gotten out of his truck to check potholes around 8:30 a.m. in the 4700 block of South Princeton Avenue when a man ran into the truck, police said.

A struggle ensued, and the city worker was cut on his right hand and brought to Mercy Hospital, where his condition was listed as stable, police said.

The man drove off in the truck, but the tracking system on the truck led police to its location, and the man was arrested at 8:48 a.m. at 108th Street and Michigan Avenue, police said.

Charges are pending against the alleged car thief.
