CHICAGO — Stores on the same Downtown block were robbed and burglarized in separate incidents early Thursday, police said.
The robbery and burglary happened near City Hall.
The first incident happened at 1:10 a.m., when two men in masks walked into a convenience store in the 100 block of North LaSalle Street, police said. One of the men had a long knife and the other man implied to the clerk he had a weapon.
The men took money, bottles of liquor and cigarettes from the store and ran away, police said. No one was reported injured.
Just hours later, at 5:15 a.m., a burglar broke the front window of a business on the same block, police said. The burglar — or burglars — then reached into the store, took eyewear and left.
No one was in custody in these incidents, police said.
