CHICAGO — Kit Kats are no longer Illinois' favorite candy for Halloween, according to a report.
Sour Patch Kids are now the state's top candy for Halloween, with 155,782 pounds sold, according to a report from bulk candy seller CandyStore.com. Kit Kats fell to the No. 2 slot with 151,786 pounds sold, and Reese's Cups jumped up to No. 3 with 95,627 pounds sold.
Candy Store used a decade's worth of sales data — and help from the candy stores it sells to — to figure out the favorite candy in each state.
People in Maine, Massachusetts, Nebraska, New Hampshire and New York all love Sour Patch kids, too, according to the data. New York was the only state to buy more Sour Patch Kids than Illinois, with 200,008 pounds sold.
