Chicago Weekend Shootings Kill 7 People, Wound 32

CHICAGO — Shootings over the weekend left seven people dead and 32 others wounded.

Of those victims, two people were killed and 10 wounded in shootings since Sunday morning.

• At 12:37 a.m. Monday, a 24-year-old man was shot and killed while he walked with a group of people in Chatham.

• At 7:26 p.m. Sunday, a 30-year-old man was shot to death as he stood outside in Austin.

In non-fatal shootings:

• At 1:45 a.m. Monday, a 20-year-old man was shot while driving in Bridgeport.

• At 1:15 a.m., a 34-year-old man was shot in Ashburn, police said. The man was found inside a car in the 4300 block of West 79th Street. He had been shot in his abdomen.

The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition, police said.

No further information was immediately available.

• At 11:20 p.m. Sunday, a 23-year-old woman was shot in Englewood, police said. The woman was standing on a porch with a man in the 6500 block of South Sangamon Street when three people started to beat him.

During the fight, someone fired a shot and it hit the woman in her neck, police said. The woman was taken to Stroger Hospital, where her condition was not available but she was listed as "stable," police said.

• Also at 11:20 p.m., a 34-year-old woman was shot in Austin, police said. The woman was walking on the sidewalk in the 1000 block of North Massasoit Avenue when she heard shots and felt pain.

The woman was hit in her buttocks and was taken to Stroger Hospital. Her condition was not available but she was listed as "stable," police said.

• At 10:38 p.m., a 27-year-old man was shot in Austin, police said. The man was walking on the sidewalk in the 300 block of South Leamington Avenue when he heard shots and felt pain.

The man was hit in his right leg. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," police said.

• Also at 10:38 p.m., a 21-year-old man was shot while in a gas station parking lot near the border of West Town and the Near West Side.

• At 10:03 p.m., a 32-year-old man was shot in West Humboldt Park.

• At 8 p.m., a 24-year-old man was shot in Austin, police said. The man was in the 1400 block of North Latrobe Avenue when he heard shots and felt pain.

The man was hit in his face and he was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, police said.

• At 1 p.m., a 42-year-old man was shot in West Pullman, police said. The man was getting out of a car in the 12200 block of South Aberdeen Street when someone walked up to him, fired shots and ran away.

The man was hit in his arm and leg and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center. His condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," police said.

Two cars were hit by gunfire during the shooting, police said.

• At 12:42 p.m., a 27-year-old man was shot in South Chicago, police said. The man was standing outside in the 2900 block of East 87th Street when he heard shots and felt pain.

The man was hit in his buttocks and he took himself to Trinity Hospital, where he was in good condition, police said.

No one was in custody in these shootings.

Shootings left two people dead and 13 wounded between Saturday and Sunday, and three people were killed and nine wounded in shootings Friday to Saturday.
