Man Drops Gun On Red Line Tracks, Stopping Trains Thursday Night

CHICAGO — A man dropped a gun on the Red Line tracks as he rode on the train Thursday night, police said.

At 10:35 p.m., the man was on a train going south near 36th Street when he saw officers walking up to him him and he dropped a gun on the tracks, police said.

The Red Line was shut down for about an hour from the 35th Street Station to the 47th Street Station as officers investigated and looked for the gun, police said. A gun was found and the man was arrested.

Charges were pending.
