ROSCOE VILLAGE — For more than 30 years, the Cornelia Arts Building, 1800 W. Cornelia Ave., has offered studio spaces for local, national and international artists who work in a variety of media, including sculptors, painters, photographers, ceramic artists, print makers, jewelry designers, textile artisans and more.

The Cornelia Arts Building hosts open studio events four times per year, but its October event is always the biggest and best-attended. The open house takes place from 6-10 p.m. on Friday and offers attendees the chance to meet the 30-plus artists in person, explore their workspaces up close and purchase handmade works of art.

The event also features juried guest artist exhibitions by Lily Niederpruem and Shirley Hudson and food from Gina's Steak Truck.

There is free parking in a lot in front of the building and on nearby neighborhood streets.

Established in 1986 in a former ice-house, the Cornelia Arts Building is one of the largest and one of the oldest all-artist studio buildings on Chicago's North Side.
