CHICAGO — The Addison Red Line station was temporarily closed to trains after a "white, powdery substance" was found on a train Thursday morning, officials said.
At 8:26 a.m., a passenger found the powder on a southbound train and the passengers got off at Addison, said a CTA spokeswoman. Trains bypassed the Red Line station as police investigated the powder, and the station was reopened and running by 11 a.m.
Officers were investigating a hazmat situation at the stop, a Chicago Police spokesman said.
The substance was "non-toxic," the CTA posted on Twitter.
ABC Chicago reports that the substance was baby powder.
