CHICAGO — A man tried to lure a 14-year-old girl into his car this month in West Lawn, police said.

At 7:20 a.m. Sept. 15, the girl was walking to a bus stop at 6701 S. Pulaski Road when a man in a car drove alongside her and motioned for the girl to get into the car, according to a Chicago Police community alert.

The girl ran to a Currency Exchange near the bus stop, and the man drove around the building twice while trying to lure the girl inside his car, police said. He then drove off.

The man was described as black, 25-30 years old with black hair and a low haircut and a full, trimmed beard, police said. He wore a dark gray shirt and was driving a white, four-door car. The car was possibly a Totoya and it was missing its passenger head cap. The car's license plate was Q992822, police said.

Anyone with information about the incident was asked to call police at 312-747-8380.
