3 Armed Robberies In Andersonville Trigger Police Warning

ANDERSONVILLE — Police are warning Andersonville residents to be on high alert after three armed robberies in the neighborhood last Thursday.

In each of the incidents, two men approached the victims walking on the sidewalk, showed a handgun and demanded property, according to officers in the Lincoln District. However, police said all three attacks were not committed by the same people.

The first incident occurred around 1:30 am. on Sept. 21 in the 1700 block of West Balmoral Avenue. The attackers were described as two black men between the ages of 19 and 22. Both men were between 5-foot 8 and 5-foot 11 and weigh between 160-180 pounds, police said.

The second incident occurred around 10 p.m. in the 1400 block of West Catalpa Avenue and the third incident occurred about ten minutes later in the 1400 West Berwyn Avenue, police said.

In those incidents, the robbers were described as two Hispanic men between the ages of 19 and 21 and each about 5-foot-8, police said. One of the men weighs about 130 pounds while the other weighs 200, police said.
