CHICAGO — Updated renderings of the renovation of the 2.5 million-square-foot Old Main Post Office show plans for a slick office building with retail, tenant lounges, common areas and even room outside for boats.
The new renderings were first reported by Curbed.
New York-based 601W Cos. bought the massive building in 2016, planning to redevelop the long-vacant Art Deco post office into new office space plus a public riverwalk and a three-acre rooftop park with outdoor cafes, a track, tennis and basketball courts.
According to the presentation, the building would be open to retail in early 2018, park space and a rooftop deck would be ready later in 2018. Businesses would be able to move offices in by 2019.
