LOGAN SQUARE — Get those Parson's patio hangs in while you still can.

The team behind the wildly popular Parson's Chicken & Fish, 2952 W. Armitage Ave., is planning to close the restaurant's always-packed outdoor patio Oct. 2 so construction crews can get moving on the expansion project.

First announced in December of 2016, the project will bring a new bar, kitchen and more exterior seating to Parson's, a neighborhood favorite since 2013.

According to a spokeswoman for Land and Sea Dept., the project should be complete sometime this winter. If all goes according to plan, the patio will reopen in the spring like it always does. The indoor dining rooms will remain open during construction.

Folks can properly say goodbye to patio season at the "End of Summer" Parson's outdoor block parties the weekend of Sept. 30.

The restaurant is also hosting a barbecue on Sunday in support of Austin, Texas-based BBQ joint Franklin Barbecue, which was forced to close temporarily after a fire.

There will be pulled pork sandwiches, featuring a special sauce courtesy of Chef Aaron Franklin, as well as Texas-themed cocktails and beers. Proceeds will benefit Franklin Barbecue.
