WOODLAWN — Police are warning a of string of Craigslist sales that turned to robberies at the same spot in Woodlawn.

At least three times people have shown up on the 6100 block of South Kimbark Avenue for a Craigslist sale only to find out it was robbery, according to police.

The first incident happened at 3:30 p.m. June 9 and police said it happened again at 1:45 p.m. Aug. 9 and again at 1 p.m. Sept. 2.

In all three cases, the person showed up and was robbed by one or more women, according to police. No weapons were involved in any of the cases, police said.

Neighbors have complained about problems on the block for well over a year, with calls getting louder for some action after a 3-year-old boy was shot in 2016.

Ald. Willie Cochran (20th) and neighbors have blamed much of the crime on one problem building on the block, but it’s unclear whether the recent robberies were related.

Anyone with information about the recent robberies is encouraged to call the Area Central Bureau of Detectives at 312-747-8380.
