WEST LOOP — Armed robbers struck the West Loop in a series of incidents in mid-August, police warned Tuesday.

In three robberies from Aug. 14-17, one to four men between 16 to 25 years old pulled a handgun and took cars and other items from victims, police said.

The first robbery was reported in the 600 block of West Kinzie Street at 2:43 a.m. Aug. 14 near Fulton River Park.

Later that night, robbers struck again at 6:45 p.m. in the same block, but along North Desplaines Street near Black Iron Tavern and Paramount Room.

A similar robbery was reported three days later a little farther north; robbers hit the 1400 block of West Chicago Avenue in West Town around 10:10 p.m. Aug. 17.

Police ask neighbors to be aware of surroundings and report suspicious activity immediately. If confronted, remain clam and remember any unique physical characteristics like scars or acne.

Victims should not pursue offenders, but report information to police and save any surveillance or video footage of the incident and contact information from potential witnesses.

Those with information on the three reported robberies can call Area Central detectives at 312-747-8382.
