Armed Robber Targeting Seniors On Far South Side, Police Say

ROSELAND — An armed robber is targeting seniors in the Roseland area, according to the Chicago Police Department.

The robber has struck twice recently from 3-8 p.m. He begins by engaging seniors in conversation, asking to use a phone or for change, police in the Morgan Park District said in a community alert.

In one of the robberies, the robber pulled out a handgun and demanded cash. In the second robbery, he pushed the victim down and stole cash. He seems be prowling the area of 111th Street between Parnell and Union avenues, police said.

The robber is described as a black man 30-40 years old. He is about 5-foot-10 and weighs 180-220 pounds. He has been seen driving away from the robberies in a late model, dark SUV, according to police.

Specifically, the robberies occurred on:

• Aug. 22 in the 500 block of West 111th Street

• Wednesday in the 11100 block of South Lowe Avenue
