CHICAGO — A 22-year-old man was shot dead in a Back of the Yards street early Saturday morning, police said.
Police responded to a call in the 5300 block of South Seeley Avenue around 2:18 a.m. and found a man shot multiple times. The man was taken to Holy Cross Hospital.
Carlos Cortez, of the same block where he was shot, was pronounced dead at 2:37 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. An autopsy showed Cortez died from multiple gunshot wounds in a homicide.
No one is in custody and police said the incident might have been gang-related.
