Aldi's One-Day Hiring Spree Aims To Fill 300 Jobs At Dozens Of Stores

BUCKTOWN — Expanding discount grocery chain Aldi on Tuesday will host a "one-day hiring spree" to fill 300 positions at Chicago and Northwest Indiana stores, the company recently announced.

All Chicago Aldi stores are hosting hiring sprees from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday, including the new Bucktown location at 1753 N. Milwaukee Ave.

According to a spokeswoman, Aldi wages start at $11.75 an hour for store associates and can be as much as $13.50 per hour, depending on location.

Shift managers earn $16.25-$18 hourly, depending on the location.

Manager trainees earn up to $56,192 per year ($22.25-$22.75 per hour, averaging 45 hours per week), with an opportunity to earn $76,000 to $100,000 per year as a store manager, the spokeswoman said.

To be eligible you must be 18 or older with a high school diploma or GED and retail experience preferred. Applicants will undergo a drug screening and background check and need to be able to lift 45 pounds.

Aldi staff averaging more than 25 hours a week are eligible for full health insurance benefits and dental coverage, plus all employees can participate in the 401(k) program.
