CHICAGO — A 45-year-old man died after trying to help a woman onto a bridge on the South Branch of the Chicago River early Sunday, police said.
At 1:27 a.m., the man was in the 500 block of West Cermak Road when he tried to help a 52-year-old woman, who was under a bridge, get onto the bridge, police said. The man fell into the Chicago River.
The man was removed from the water and taken to Mercy Hospital, where he died, police said.
