DOWNTOWN — Portillo's is rolling out two new menu items for the fall: bratwurst and a "Chicago-style salad" topped with meatballs.
Beers will also be $1 off while the popular Chicago chain celebrates Oktoberfest from Sept. 12 through Oct. 31, a Portillo's representative said in a statement.
The Usinger's Bratwurst, sold for $4.29, is topped with Bavarian-style sauerkraut and stone-ground German mustard on a special brat roll.
The Meatball Salad, priced at $8.59, includes Tuscan spring mix and chopped romaine lettuce with red onion, gorgonzola cheese, bacon and Portillo’s house dressing.
The salad is also topped with two hand-rolled meatballs smothered with marinara sauce and grated parmesan cheese.
The Oktoberfest menu will be available for a limited time at Portillo's, which has a restaurant at 100 W. Ontario St. in River North and 520 W. Taylor St. in the South Loop.
The suburban chain known for chocolate cake shakes and Chicago-style hot dogs will also serve Leinenkugel's Oktoberfest while supplies last.
